“Dats a rap - Joey Dats wins 2009 HHitP Producer Battle – Congratulations to Joey Dats (of The Greater Good) after winning the trophy as Hip Hop in the Park’s 2009 Producer Battle champion. It was a close one; here’s how it went down:
Semifinal A: Jae Mayes vs. Architect - winner: Jae Mayes
Semifinal B: Redef vs. Joey Dats - winner: Joey Dats
Final: Joey vs. Jae in one tough, close, holy smokes, hype battle. Each played two instrumentals and at first it looked like the judges were leaning toward Jae Mayes. Then, overtime was demanded. So in OT, the two went head-to-head once more and Joey Dats came just over the edge as the judge’s favourite. But it was a tough battle. Congrats to Joey Dats.

HHITP 09 was dope… my first time at the event because last year I was out of the country… but the weather was perfect, lots of heads in attendence, and TGG fam was reppin hard…
lot of hard work was put in by the organizers, volunteers and stage hands (too many ppl to name, and I don’t even know exactly how many people worked to make this happen… but props to the HHITP Team…)

Joey Dats in Finals of Hip Hop in The Park Beat Battle
Joey Dats competed last night at Wildstyle Wednesdays in the beat battle prelims for Hip Hop In The Park. A hard fought battle, but he was successful in securing a spot in the finals four! Here’s the recap…
“In case you missed the big producer battle tonight at Wildstyle Wednesdays @ The Temple, the semi-finalists are: Joey Dats, Jae Mayes, Redef and GetNYce. Congratulations to the four of them who won over 16 other very competitive beatmakers.
The semi-finalists will compete to be the HHitP 09 Prodcuer champion. It’s this Saturday (May 23) @ Louise McKinney Park.”
Winner will be announced 7PM MST @ Hip Hop In the Park, Louis McKinney Park.

TGG to Perform @ Hip Hop In The Park - May 23, 2009
Hip-Hop in the Park is a music and culture festival in Edmonton, Alberta held during the third week of every May, which celebrates Hip-Hop Appreciation Week. (This year’s event is at Louise McKinney Riverfront Park on Saturday, May 23, 2009.)
Hip-Hop Appreciation Week was founded by KRS-One’s Temple of Hip-Hop, and it marks the anniversary of when Hip-Hop became an official culture sanctioned by the United Nations. Below is The Hip-Hop Declaration of Peace, an official UN document that clearly states the pillars and principles of Hip-Hop culture.
The Greater Good will be performing at this year’s event … the weather should be nice so come out for some sun and take in the 4 elements of hip hop… here’s the performance schedule … we are rockin the stage from 3:50 PM - 4:00 PM.
